What is SLCN and SLI?
Children and young people with speech and language difficulties are often described as having SLCN. This is a general term used to describe any kind of difficulties with speech and language. SLI fits under the SLCN “umbrella”, however those with SLI have very specific difficulties with language but the difficulties are not associated with any other syndrome or general learning difficulties. Afasic Cymru supports parents of children with speech and language and communication needs. We have a Parents section packed full of useful information about speech and language impairments including a FAQs page to explain more about SLCN. Events and training
Afasic Cymru runs a varied programme of training for parents and professionals featuring top speakers and contributors. We also arrange fundraising events for everyone to get involved with as well as events which host an exhibition of information, advice, resources and services pertinent to speech, language and communication needs.
