Meadowbank School closure – important consultation information
Meadowbank School in Cardiff is the only special school of its kind in Wales which provides day education for primary aged pupils who have statements of special educational needs for their severe and specific Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Meadowbank was earmarked for closure in July 2017 but due to the overwhelming responses to the public consultation from present and past families of children who attend this unique provision, Cardiff Council says more time is needed to make a more informed decision on the future of specialist provision for children and young people who have SLCN in Cardiff.
Consequently, the Local Authority are currently carrying out a review of its provision & specialist support for the children we represent. The review will be informed by various stakeholders including parents, carers and Afasic Cymru. Further information can be found on Cardiff Council’s website.
Open afternoon – 17 November 2016
Meadowbank School is holding an open afternoon on Thursday 17 November to showcase what the school can offer to children who need help with
- Talking to others and making friends
- Following instructions at home or at school
- Speaking clearly and explaining what they mean
- Managing their behaviour & emotions
