Guidance for the Inclusion of Young People with Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties in Secondary School
Afasic Cymru has produced a Secondary School information pack with thanks to a small group of advisers, Jo Aldred, Karen Allen, Catrin Davies, Sheila Davies, Martine Dodd, Frances Elms, Bonnie Lane, Delyth Molyneux, Gwenan Roberts, Steve Stockdale and Karen Visser. The pack has been produced in CD format in both English and Welsh and is being piloted in selected schools in both North and South Wales.
The pack consists of PART A – Guidance for teachers, PART B – CPD Tutor Notes and Task Sheets & a PowerPoint presentation – a guideline which can be adapted to suit your school needs. Once downloaded onto your school intranet this training pack can be easily accessed by ALL teachers and staff. Every secondary school in Wales is entitled to receive this pack free of charge. Ideally, the delivery of the training as illustrated in PART B should be delivered by a speech & language therapist collaboratively with a teacher. We are currently seeking additional funding to provide this training. Please complete this form to receive your free pack OR email Jeannette.
Wales Youth Information Pack
The pack consists of local contacts and useful information for teenagers. The booklet also contains a laminated credit card style identity card to give information about speech and language difficulties which a young person could produce if in difficulties.
